Obituary: Helen Prohaska

HELEN F. PROHASKA

Helen F. Prohaska, 74, of Chelsea died peacefully Feb. 3, 2004, at her home surrounded by her family and her two cats. She was born Dec. 27, 1929, in Evanston, Ill., the daughter of George B. and Helen M. (McCauley) Shultz.

Mrs. Prohaska had lived in Chelsea since 1974, coming from New England. She was a second- and third-grade teacher for the Chelsea School District for 22 years, retiring in 1999.

Mrs. Prohaska’s passions were spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends.

On July 3, 1958, she married David Prohaska in Illinois. He preceded her in death in 2000.

Surviving are her two children, Julie Ann Seagraves of Ann Arbor and Scott D. (Katherine) Prohaska of Richmond, Va.; five grandchildren, Mathew Glen Egeler, Meredith Marie Egeler, Nicholas Sean Prohaska, Brennden Everett Prohaska and Danielle Katherine Prohaska; and one sister, Mary Jo (Don) Sengbusch of Tucson Ariz.

Also surviving are three nieces, Janet (Tim) Hagan of Sucussunna, N.J., Laura (Larry) Mann of East Troy, Wis., and Donna Sengbusch of Tucson, Ariz.; a number of grandnieces, grandnephews and dear friends, including Sally Peiter and the "7+2;" and Joann McArdle and the rest of the Red Hat Society ladies.

A funeral was held Saturday at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home in Chelsea. Private burial was at Oak Grove Cemetery in Chelsea.
