LINCOLN PARK — The changes being considered to the city’s building codes would permit the following types of home-based businesses:
l Offices for professionals, including clergy, doctors, dentists and travel agents.
l Personal services, including barbers, massage therapists, pet groomers and caterers.
l Institutional services, including music, dance, arts and crafts and tutoring.
l Baby-sitting services and day-care providers.
l Studios for artists, musicians, photographers and authors.
l Workrooms for tailors, cabinetry and woodworking.
l Repair services, including computers, clocks, small appliances and small engines.
A list on prohibited home-based businesses also is being discussed and includes the following:
l Kennels, stables and veterinary clinics.
l Medical and dental clinics.
l Eating or drinking establishments.
l Motor vehicle repair.
l Funeral homes.
l Retail sale of merchandise not made on the premises.
l Boarding and rooming houses.
l Trucking and delivering services.
l Fortune-telling and psychic reading.
l Adult entertainment, including nude modeling, massage parlors, tattoo parlors and body-piercing studios.
